CS Remastered is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that aims to bring completely free one-on-one computer science mentoring to the next generation of innovators.
CS Remastered was designed with one thing in mind: the student. Our classes are designed to provide students with a comprehensive immersion in computer science, while adapting to their own style and pace.
Our classes are primarily designed for students between 10 and 16 years old.
Our classes are generally held once a week throughout the year.
Our curriculums are fully adaptable to every student and include everything from the fundamentals of computer science to real world development.
Our classes are held at various libraries throughout NJ. We also have additional branches in California, Ohio, and are currently opening new ones in India and China.
Each year more than 500,000 jobs in computer science go unfilled. Yet only about 35% of all high schools in the US even teach the subject. The ones that do often teach it in a rigid or one-directional approach, prioritizing memorization over understanding. When a subject as complex as computer science is taught in such an inflexible way, students are bound to run into obstacles understanding the material.
CS Remastered was founded with the goal of adopting a different approach to teaching computer science, one that emphasizes understanding the fundamentals along with the algorithmic side of CS, rather than simply memorizing syntax.
All of this is done in a one-on-one manner which ensures a constant student-mentor interaction, and allows students to ask important questions along the way.
Join CS Remastered as a student to learn, signup as a volunteer to start teaching, or take initiative and bring CS Remastered to a location near you.
